JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) announced that on August 17, 2023, gas from the Wiriagar Deep A well had entered the Tangguh Train 3 system.

Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto said, with the completion of this construction and commissioning, it is estimated that the first LNG drop will occur in September 2023.

"Today, LNG cargo loading has been carried out from Train 1 and Train 2 through Jetty-2, which is part of the scope of the Train 3 project. This is a gift that makes the upstream oil and gas industry proud of the Indonesian people at the celebration of independence, which we celebrate today," Dwi told the media, Thursday, August 17.

Dwi further conveyed that the journey of the Tangguh Train 3 project had had a positive impact and economic benefits, created jobs and contributed to moving the regional economy.

At the peak of the Train 3 project mobilized around 13,500 workers with the majority of workers being children of the nation and involving local workers of the Papuan people in a very large number.

Dwi added that in optimal operating capacity, Train 3 will increase LNG Tangguh production by 50 percent to 11.4 metric tons per person (MTPA).

Later, the production of Train 3 gas will be prioritized for domestic purposes, so that domestic gas needs can be met as a whole and become one of the backbones in the upstream oil and gas industry's struggle to achieve the long-term target in 2030, namely oil production of 1 million barrels per day (BOPD) and gas 12 billion cubic feet per day (BSCFD).
