1 Kilogram Of Methamphetamine Courier In Medan Sentenced To Life In Prison
The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN) sentenced the defendant Muhammad Nanda to 1,034.4 grams in prison for life.
"Decided Muhammad Nanda to be legally proven guilty of committing a criminal act of brokering 1,034.4 grams of methamphetamine with a life sentence of imprisonment," said Chief Judge Dahlan in a trial at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 15.
The panel of judges in the verdict stated that the facts of the trial of the defendant Muhammad Nanda had violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
"That is, without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or delivering class I narcotics in the form of non-plants of crystal methamphetamine packages with a net weight of 1,034.4 grams," he said.
The panel of judges said that the aggravating thing for the defendant Muhammad Nanda was not to support the government's program, which was active in eradicating drugs, was a very dangerous act for the nation's generation.
"In addition, the defendant was involved in an international network, while there were no mitigating factors," said Dahlan.

After reading the verdict, the defendant Muhammad Nanda filed an appeal while the Public Prosecutor from the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office Maria Fr Br Tarigan expressed his thoughts in the decision.
This decision is higher than the demands of the public prosecutor for 14 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison.
Previously, the defendant Muhammad Nanda was secured by officers from the North Sumatra Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) on Jalan Mangaan, Medan Deli District, Medan City. The defendant admitted that the illicit goods were from Asun to deliver methamphetamine to the intended location in the Medan Deli area.
