Police Name 10 Suspects In Hotel Guest Extortion Case In Tangerang, The Mode Is To Spread Photos Of Victims
TANGERANG - Police arrested 14 perpetrators of extortion against the victim with the initials KT at a hotel and nightclub in the Tangerang City area.
Tangerang Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Rio Mikael Tobing said the arrests were made in the Karawaci area, Tangerang City, Friday, August 4.
This arrest began with a public report about a case of alleged extortion at a hotel in Tangerang City.
From the report, the police conducted an investigation until they finally arrested the perpetrator who was in action. At the time of the incident, the perpetrator was surrounding the victim.
"It is true that it is known that the victim of KT has been surrounded by approximately 10 people. The alleged perpetrator at the crime scene is threatening and extorting KT's brother," Rio told reporters, Wednesday, August 9.
"Then it was discovered that the 4 perpetrators were at TangCity Mall and managed to silence them," he continued.
The perpetrators were taken to the Tangerang City Metro Police for further investigation. As a result, 10 people were named as suspects.
"We have secured 14 perpetrators, we carried out our in-depth examinations based on their respective roles and we have named 10 people as suspects with the initials AEC (23), JH (39), PS (53), FM (25), WE (46), BN (42) FB (26), SH (26), MD (24), SH (26)," he said.

Rio also said that the modus operandi of these perpetrators was to scare the victim of spreading his photos with women he knew to his family.
"The method is waiting for guests who come out of one of the hotels, then following potential victims who are randomly selected. Then the perpetrators start to act by scaring the victim," he said.
"(The way) to spread photos to the victim's family, report to the police and will be published in the media," he continued
The suspects were charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 369 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 335 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 53 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 55 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 64 of the Criminal Code carries a penalty of 9 years in prison.
