Jokowi: The Highest Trust In God Becomes Indonesia's Strong Capital
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the level of confidence of the Indonesian people in God, which according to the survey to be the highest in the world, could be the nation's strong capital in facing the various challenges ahead.
"This is one of our strong capital as a nation because our trust in Allah SWT is very important so that humans have good morals and values and have strength in dealing with various problems," said President Jokowi in the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta., reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 1.
Jokowi quoted the results of an international survey which stated that 96 percent of Indonesians believed in God. Based on the survey, the level of confidence in the Indonesian people in God is the highest compared to other countries, even countries from the Middle East.
"I've read this on news. Based on an international survey that I read 96 percent of Indonesians believe in God. Alhamdulillah, it is the highest in the world, above other countries both in Africa, Europe, America and even in the Middle East. In Turkey, the figure is 75 percent, we are 96 percent," said Jokowi.
According to the President, trust in God is very important so that people have good morals and values, so that they have strength in facing increasingly complex challenges in the future.
"There is a compass in life, there is a compass if we believe in Allah SWT," said the President.
The President also invited the public to increase mutual respect, and help each other between individuals. He thanked the kiai, ulama, religious leaders, community leaders, teachers and all components of the nation who consistently continue to introduce and guide the nation's next generation in trust in God.
The government, said Jokowi, continues to strive to realize a good, comfortable, tolerant and conducive religious life in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.
"Let us continue to maintain our harmony, our tolerance, respect each other, help each other so that this nation can become a united nation, a developed nation," said Jokowi.
