Sales Of Mazda MX-30 Stopped In The US And Mazda Will Debut At GIIAS 2023
JAKARTA - Bad news came for Mazda fans in the United States (US). Mazda has announced that sales of MX-30 2023 will not continue in the US market. This decision was taken so that the manufacturer's focus could be more focused on other Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) products, such as the 2024 CX-90 PHEV model.
Not only that, Mazda also plans to introduce future CX-70 PHEV and CX-50 Hybrid models. However, there seems to be more than one reason behind stopping sales of MX-30 in the US.
Reported on the Mazda USA website, Friday, July 28, sales of this electric-powered SUV turned out to be low in the US region. Since September 2021, MX-30 has only been sold for 571 units, and among them, only 51 units were sold in the second quarter of 2023.
In detail, sales of Mazda MX-30 reached 181 units from September to December 2021. Then, in 2022, 324 units were sold. And in the first half of 2023, only 66 units were sold.
Mazda MX-30 uses a synchronous AC-type permanent electric motor with a power of 143 dk, as well as a front-wheel drive and direct-drive transmission system.
This vehicle is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 32 kWh which is liquidly cooled and capable of traveling up to 161 km after one charge.
However, unfortunately, this travel distance is relatively low compared to other electric vehicles. Mazda MX-30 is sold for $34.110 or around Rp517.7 million.
