AAJI Chairman: Portion Of Health Claims Of 1.09 Billion US Dollars In 2022 Is Not A Little Value!
Chairman of the Board of Management of the Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) Budi Tampubolon stated that the portion of health claims amounted to 1.09 billion US dollars in 2022 out of a total of 11.62 billion US dollars in claims and the benefits of insurance paid were not worth a small amount.
"The amount of 1.09 billion dollars in 2022 is 0.69 billion US dollars for individual health insurance and 0.4 billion US dollars for pool health insurance," he said at the Media Workshop related to health insurance in South Jakarta, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 26.
In the last 5 years, the value of individual health insurance claims paid continues to increase from USD 0.31 billion in 2018 to USD 0.69 billion in 2022.
The health insurance pool (health group) amounted to US$0.34 billion in 2018 and became US$0.40 billion in 2022.
Although in 2022 there will be a decrease in the overall premium income of life insurance, specifically for health insurance, it will experience an upward trend. However, the upward trend is also offset by an increase in the value of claims.
"The amount of responsibility has increased greatly and interestingly, both the individual and the insurance coverage of the collection, both of which have increased significantly," said Budi.
On the same occasion, the Head of Product, Risk Management, and GCG AAJI Fauzi Arfan advised the Indonesian people to buy health insurance products when they are in good health.
"If you buy it when you are sick, of course the price will be heavier, and there will be a lot of restrictions made by insurance companies," he said.

According to Fauzi, there is a difference in commercial insurance with social insurance.
"If it's commercial, we want to develop quality more, we want to develop services to the community, and of course it's not fair if buyers are sick," he said.
However, he continued, what was fair was that the people who bought it at that time were in good health. With the increase in the Gini ratio, of course, it has an impact on premium adjustments from time to time.
