KIP: Voters Don't Get Caught In Money Politics
BANDA ACEH - The Independent Election Commission (KIP) of Aceh Province reminded the people in the province of the western end of Indonesia who were voters in the 2024 General Election not to get caught in money politics.
"We remind voters not to get stuck in money politics in the election later," said Head of the Educational Socialization Division for Voters and Community Participation of KIP Aceh Province, Akmal Abzal, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 17.
According to him, money politics is carried out by luring voters with a sum of money and other goods to choose certain candidates. Money politics is a way to gain power.
He said money politics is transactional politics which causes voters to choose candidates to be no longer rational, but because of attachment. The politics of money has the potential for corrupt practices.
"To the public, be smart voters by choosing candidates according to conscience and not choosing because of money or other lure," said Akmal Abzal.
Members of the Aceh Province KIP who immediately ended their tenure appealed to the public to dare to report if they found or saw the practice of money politics in the election to related parties.
In addition to reporting, the public is also invited to educate money political actors that what is being done is against the law and pollutes elections which are people's democratic parties.
"The quality of the 2024 election is determined by voters. Therefore, we invite them to be rational voters, who choose representatives of the people without being lured by money, or other interests. And most importantly, use the right to vote in the 2024 election," said Akmal Abzal.
The 2024 election consists of the election of members of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) as well as the election of members of the Provincial House of Representatives and the Regency of the City House of Representatives.
The legislative election is scheduled for February 14, 2024. The legislative election will be held simultaneously with the election of the President and Vice President.
