Dropbox Launches AI-powered File Search Engine

JAKARTA - The cloud storage company, Dropbox is again eyeing Artificial Intelligence (AI) by presenting a new universal search tool, called Dash.

Dash is a single search bar, users can use it to find files stored in various connected services such as Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Trello, Outlook, Salesforce, Airtable, JIRA and others.

"We started making tools that can help you spend less time searching and setting up all your content, and more time doing your best job efficiently," Dropbox said on its official blog, quoted Thursday, June 22.

Research from McKinsey Global Institute shows knowledge workers spend 8.8 hours a week simply searching for files and content. While 69 percent spend up to 60 minutes a day navigating apps.

Dash is also supported by machine learning, he learns, evolves and increases as it is increasingly used.

In addition to universal searches, the Dropbox Dash browser extension also includes additional features, such as Stacks which is a smart collection to save, set, and retrieve URLs.

Stacks provides a layer of organization that is easy to share for user cloud content. There is also a Start Page feature, which is a single dashboard where users can access Dash's universal search, view Stacks, get shortcuts to the latest work, start meetings, make it easier to navigate and return to the most important job.

In the future, Dash will be able to retrieve user and company information to answer questions and raise relevant content using a generating AI.

That way, users don't need to filter all links and internal pages of the company to find out when the next company holiday will be. Users simply ask Dash and get quick answers.
