2 TIP Perpetrators From Tangerang Arrested At Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Area Police, Badung, Bali revealed the modus operandi of two perpetrators of the Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) who are suspected of sending four residents from Banyumas and Banjarnegara, Central Java to Cambodia.

"The modus operandi of the perpetrators of the TIP case is the lure of facilitating all departure costs, and promising jobs other than receiving salaries will also get bonuses, so people feel interested in receiving this job vacancy," said I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police Chief AKBP Ida Ayu Wikarniti as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 16.

Wikarniti said the two perpetrators with the initials H (30) and S (31) were arrested by personnel from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police on Friday (9/6) at the International Departure Terminal at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.

Of the two men from Tangerang, Banten, officers confiscated evidence referring to the alleged crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO).

The arrests of the two perpetrators began with information from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office which stated that there were six Indonesian citizens who would go to Cambodia via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

When they were about to enter the international departure terminal, officers suspected several prospective passengers who would fly abroad but did not have completeness as legal workers.

After going through the examination process, both on documents and interviews, officers concluded that four people, three Banyumas residents and 1 person from Banjarnegara, Central Java, were not eligible to go abroad because they were not equipped with documents that had to be met in accordance with the provisions that had been regulated as a requirement for workers to go abroad.

Therefore, six people including two perpetrators as recruiters were secured to the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police for further investigation and investigation.

From the examination of the victims, said the Police Chief, in their initial plan, they were promised that the two perpetrators would be employed at a restaurant in Cambodia through Bangkok, Thailand. Meanwhile, two men as perpetrators promised to take care of all facilities and the process of departing the victims.

Wikarniti said the interest of these victims to work abroad (Kamboja) began with the information they received from Facebook social media regarding job vacancies in Cambodia. Being tempted by the work promised by the two men, the four men followed directions from the two men.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 69 Juncto Article 81 of Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers with a maximum penalty of 10 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 15 million and/or Article 2 paragraph 1, article 10 and article 11 of Law no. 21 of 2007 concerning the Crime of Trafficking in Persons in conjunction with Articles 55 and 56 of the Criminal Code.
