Coryton Presents Sustainable Vegetable Fuel For Classic Cars, Prices?
JAKARTA - Synthetic and sustainable fuels are increasingly popular as an alternative to electrified systems that are now dominant in replacing fossil fuels. Most recently, the fuel specialist company, Coryton, has announced the launch of a sustainable range of fuels designed specifically for classic vehicles in the UK. This is the first step of its kind and provides environmentally friendly solutions for classic car enthusiasts.
Reporting from Top Gear, June 14, the plant-based fuel, named Sustain Classic, allows old car owners to continue running their vehicles without making any modifications. According to Coryton, using this fuel, classic car owners can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 65 percent compared to traditional fossil fuels.
This fuel uses advanced biofuels produced from agricultural waste, such as straws, unused plants, and other by-products. Just like synthetic fuels, after absorbing the carbon needed to grow, carbon released during combustion does not technically add anything to the atmosphere. However, it also doesn't completely eliminate the impact.
"Changing fossil fuels with sustainable fuel will eliminate every kilogram of CO2 released into the atmosphere, this is a win. We don't have to switch completely directly to making a real impact," David Richardson, director of business development at Coryton told Top Gear.
Richardson also explained that along with the increasing availability of raw materials, this fuel will contain more traceable elements. However, they want to keep prices affordable for consumers and remain honest about current technological achievements.
Despite the limited availability of fossil-free fuel components, Coryton has set realistic goals in producing fuels that have a major impact and meet the needs of users. They also underline the importance of openness to the readiness of this technology.

However, the price of Sustain Classic is also not cheap. Coryton offers three types of vegetable gasoline, namely Super 80, Super 33, and Racing 50. This figure refers to the percentage of renewable fuel in its mixture. And the higher the percentage, the higher the price. For now, the cheapest price of vegetable gasoline starts from 3.80 per liter or around Rp. 71,000.
