TANJUNGPINANG - Tanjungpinang City Government, Riau Islands Province (Kepri) bears BPJS Ketenagakerjaan contributions to 523 local fishermen through APBD funds for the 2023 fiscal year."There are 523 fishermen that we bear in a year, with a total budget of Rp. 105 million," said Head of the Tanjungpinang Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Service (DP3), Yoni Fadri, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 29.Yoni said there were 1,046 fishermen in Tanjungpinang who had been registered with the application of fishery or Kusuka business actors from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).Of this number, he said, as many as 523 fishermen whose BPJS premium costs were borne by the Riau Islands Provincial Government, and 523 more were borne by the Tanjungpinang City Government.According to him, as many as 523 fishermen borne by the Tanjungpinang City Government have received the BPJS Employment card which was symbolically handed over by the Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Rahma, last week.The BPJS Ketenagakerjaan found by fishermen includes Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Security (JKM)."This is a form of the city government's concern for fishermen, because we don't know the risk of work. But at least by being a participant, it can be a guarantee for the children and wives who are left behind," he said.He conveyed that fishermen who had registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in the event of an accident and even died, the heirs would receive compensation of Rp42 million.Then if the fisherman has an accident during working hours, he will also get guarantees from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan."Incident service during working hours can provide compensation funds," he said.In addition, continued Yoni, fishermen who had been participants in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for three years died in the third year, BPJS will bear all the education costs of children concerned from elementary to university level.
"There are many benefits received by fishermen registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, so they can calm down when going to sea, because there is a guarantee of protection at work," said Yoni.
