Suspect in Murder of Russian War Blogger Claims to Be Framed
JAKARTA - A woman accused of killing a prominent Russian military blogger said she was very sorry to have delivered the bomb that killed Maxim Fomin, but she did not know the true contents of the parcel she handed to Fomin at a cafe in St. Petersburg. Petersburg a month ago.
Darya Trepova is currently being held in Moscow on terrorism charges, accused of collaborating with Ukrainian special services to assassinate Maxim Fomin, who wrote a popular pro-war blog under the name Vladlen Tatarsky.
"Most of all, I want to die," the 26-year-old woman told the online news channel Rotonda, which posted excerpts of her interview online, as reported by Reuters May 4.
"I kept that incident over and over in my head... Why did I blindly believe that there was nothing dangerous in the package I was asked to deliver?" he said.
"The most unbearable thing is that they killed a man with my hands, and injured dozens of others. I have always been against violence," he lamented.
Trepova did not say who had asked her to give the package, a statue of Tatarsky, with the explosives hidden inside to the blogger while she was meeting with other war supporters.
After surviving the explosion, he said he had written letters to himself in prison to convince himself that he should not have killed himself.
