PSG Failed Again In The Champions League, Galtier: We Conceded A Very Stupid Goal
JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has swallowed another bitter pill in the Champions League. The French Ligue 1 club again failed to realize their mission of becoming champions after being eliminated in the round of 16, Thursday, March 9, WIB.
PSG's steps stopped after losing 0-2 to Bayern Munich in the second leg of the top 16 of the 2022/2023 Champions League. On aggregate, Les Parisiens lost 0-3 because in the first leg they fell 0-1.
Two of Bayern's goals in this match were scored by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnarby respectively.
Meanwhile, PSG, which was reinforced by Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in the front sector, could not do much. This was also recognized by the coach, Christophe Galtier.
"We didn't know how to score our chances. We had a good first period where we had chances. We were able to compete well, we had chances," said Galtier.
"But in the second half we conceded this really stupid goal, at this level you have to be more calm. Obviously, we were under pressure from Bayern, we knew that."
"I don't know if this is a lesson to be learned, but it is disappointing, frustrating. If we had opened the scoring the game would have been different," he said.
This is the umpteenth failure. Hope to win the Champions League again vanished.
This also makes Galtier's position now threatened. However, he said he wasn't worried.
"It's too early to talk about it. My future obviously depends on the management and president of the club," said Galtier.
"There is disappointment, that's how it is. The club has put a lot of hope in this competition. I'm staying on track, I'm still focused on the end of the season with a lot of energy and determination," he continued.
