Dustin Poirier Predicts McGregor Vs Chandler Fight: Both Have The Chance To Be A Living Punching Bag
JAKARTA - Dustin Poirier gave his prediction regarding the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) event. Poirier said the two had the potential to be a living punching bag for each other.
According to him, both McGregor and Chandler are fighters who both have a big chance to win.
"These two fighters can come out victorious," said Dustin Poirier, quoted from bjpenn.com on Tuesday, February 7.
He also believes Chandler will be able to force McGregor to undergo a duel in several rounds. "If Chandler wants to be there (a quick win), he's got to bleed McGregor's feet and put him in a few rounds of wrestling," Poirier said.
"Maybe it can make the fight different because they will punch each other like a punching bag."
"But if McGregor is the same as he was before his injury and hiatus, I think he can stop Chandler because he's too easy to hit," he added.
He then gave a message to McGregor who should be able to appear with speed. "If McGregor comes back with the same timing and pace he did before his injury, if he can do that maybe he stops Chandler," Poirier said.
For Chandler, Poirier said, McGregor's speed could have been a hindrance. For that, Chandler must make explosive moves to attack.
"Chandler is a fighter who needs explosive movement to get in and out. If McGregor's timing is the same I think he can finish him," said Poirier.
Previously UFC president Dana White had confirmed Conor McGregor would return to the octagon after recovering from injury. The fighter nicknamed The Notorious is scheduled to appear at welterweight at the TUF event before the end of the year.
