Thierry Breton Asks Twitter to Fully Comply with EU's Online Content Rules
JAKARTA - EU industry chief Thierry Breton on Tuesday, January 31 told Twitter owner Elon Musk to do more to fully comply with online content rules on the block.
"I welcome the efforts Twitter is making to align with Europe's goals, while recognizing that the months ahead will be critical," Breton said after a video call with Musk, quoted by Reuters.
"We need to see more progress towards full DSA compliance. My team will be closely following the work being done by Twitter and by all other online platforms," Breton said at the event.
So far, Twitter has had some difficulties adjusting to content regulations in the European Union. These difficulties include content restrictions: European Union regulations limit the content that can be published and require platforms such as Twitter to remove content that violates the law such as discrimination, hate speech, and defamation.
Twitter is also considered to have difficulties in data compliance. This is because the European Union has strict regulations on privacy and data security, and Twitter must ensure that they comply with these requirements, including ensuring that user data is not collected unlawfully.
Apart from that, with the treatment of Hoaxes and Disinformation. EU regulations require platforms such as Twitter to monitor and limit hoaxes and disinformation that contribute to defamation, unfair elections and other harmful content.

While EU regulations can change rapidly and Twitter must be able to adapt quickly and ensure that they comply with the new regulations.
These are some of the many difficulties Twitter has had to face in conforming to content regulations in the European Union. However, Twitter and other platforms are working to comply with these requirements to ensure that they meet the standards set by the European Union and ensure that the content they publish is of high quality and complies with the law.
