Gorontalo Shocked By An Earthquake With A Magnitude Of 4.9, BMKG Asks Citizens To Be Alert To Susulants
GORONTALO - An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 shook Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo on Friday, December 9.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) asked the public to be aware of aftershocks that could potentially occur after the main earthquake centered in the sea 23 kilometers southwest of Boalemo Regency.
"Be careful of possible aftershocks," wrote BMKG on its official website, Friday, December 9.
Based on the BMKG report, the earthquake occurred at around 07.32 WIB. The epicenter of the earthquake was at 0.42 North Latitude and 122.17 East Longitude.
This earthquake with a depth of 98 kilometers was felt by residents of Goronalo Regency and Gorontalo City.
BMKG said residents in the two regions felt an earthquake with a Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) II scale. MMI II vibrations are felt real in the house or it seems as if a truck has passed.
