US COVID-19 Emergency Coordinator Asks for Personal Responsibility in Health and COVID-19 Content

JAKARTA - Owners of social media platforms must consider their personal responsibility regarding health disinformation, and the public must choose trusted sources to be trusted. This statement comes from the White House COVID-19 response coordinator, Ashish Jha, on Tuesday, November 22.

"You can decide to trust American doctors, or you can trust some random people on Twitter. It is your choice," Jha told a White House news conference, cited from Reuters.

"For journalists and people with platforms, what I'm saying is you have to think about what your personal responsibilities are, and do you want to be a source of misinformation and disinformation? It's up to the individuals," said Jha.

Jha is answering questions on Twitter allowing politicians and ordinary people who spread COVID vaccine misinformation back to the platform under the leadership of new owner Elon Musk.

This needs to be done bearing in mind that Twitter now has minimal control over content, after many social media employees were fired by Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter.
