Urging KPK To Immediately Examine Lukas Enembe, MAKI: If He Is Treated, He Can Be Arrested First And Then Suspended

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has been asked not to procrastinate in dealing with the alleged corruption that ensnared Lukas Enembe. They must immediately determine the date of departure to Jayapura to check the condition of the Governor of Papua.

"We have to come to Papua immediately to send a team of independent doctors to check Luke's health," Boyamin Saiman, Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), told reporters on Tuesday, November 1.

Boyamin reminded that the investigation into the alleged crime that ensnared Lukas must be accelerated. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) can no longer delay it for any reason because the completion of the alleged racism must be carried out immediately without exception.

Not only that but the KPK was also asked to show its firmness. The legal process should not be carried out slowly, especially if the independent team stated that Lukas was in good health and able to take responsibility for his actions.

"If later it turns out that you are sick, you will indeed be treated with whether you are detained first and then laid out, or if you are healthy, you are brought to Jakarta and detained," he said.

The team's plan to come to Luke's residence should not be carried out for long. "It must be immediate, it will take a long time, the KPK has promised itself," said Boyamin.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had kept secret when an independent team consisting of doctors from their institutions and the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) left for Jayapura to check on Lukas' condition. In fact, the regional head has stated his readiness and confirmed that he will cooperate.

"We are still waiting for their arrival (KPK)," said Luke's attorney, Aloysius Renwarin in a written statement, as quoted on Monday, October 31.

Lukas' camp confirmed that it would take part in an examination that would later be held by the team. They also guarantee the safety of the team that will go to Jayapura.
