Under Mahfud MD's Coordination, Fact Finding Team Of Kanjuruhan Tragedy Immediately Act
JAKARTA - The Joint Independent Fact-Finding Team (TGIPF) of the Kanjuruhan tragedy, held its first meeting on Tuesday, October 4, at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and was directly led by the TGIPF team leader, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahfud MD, S.H., S.U., M.I.P., and was attended by 13 team members but two were via zoom because they were in Papua and Malaysia.
As a result of the inaugural meeting, TGIPF agreed to immediately work and find the root cause of the Kanjuruhan tragedy which claimed 125 lives and other treated victims, as well as provide recommendations to stop the problems that always occur in national football.
As is well known, match riots at Tanya Air football have often occurred and a fact-finding team has always been formed, but the conditions have never changed, so this team must find the root of the problem, and then recommend what to do so that it doesn't happen again in the future.
"The team will recommend imposing sanctions for those who violate the match between Arema and Persebaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang," said Akmal Marhali, a member of the TGIPF after the meeting, according to a statement received by VOI Wednesday, October 5.
Regulatory Sync
Furthermore, the former sports journalist also said that TGIPF would recommend synchronizing regulations, both FIFA regulations and Indonesian laws and regulations, as well as conducting socialization by providing understanding to all football stakeholders, security forces, supporters, officials, and so on. "All parties involved must understand this regulation," said Akmal.

For matters of a technical nature, the Save Our Soccer (SoS) coordinator continued, this team will continue to work according to the plan that is being prepared, where the technicalities will be regulated in the form of continuous coordination carried out by the TGIPF secretary.
"God willing, in the next three weeks, this team will be able to convey the results of its work to Mr. President Joko Widodo and it is hoped that it can be faster than that target," Akmal added.
"The TGIPF also emphasized and was agreed by the Minister of Youth and Sports that all PSSI competitions (League 1, 2 and 3) were temporarily suspended until President Joko Widodo said they could be normalized, after this team submitted its recommendations on how to implement and secure the matches that must be carried out," he concluded.
