Glance Supports The Development Of Esports Ladies In Indonesia, Because Games Ladies Have Great Potential
JAKARTA - If you have spoken about games and gamers in Indonesia, it doesn't feel complete if you don't talk about Esports (Electronic Sports). Esports is a sport based on electronic equipment such as PCs, Mobile phones, or consoles such as PlayStation or Xbox.
When giving a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Presidential Cup last month, the daily chairman of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI), Bambang Sunarwibowo said that the Esports gamers in Indonesia had reached more than 44.2 million people.
In the past, Esports was only underestimated by the public, but it seems that this view is slowly changing when many parties are starting to host Esports tournaments.
Until now the development of Esports is getting faster, not only for male players, Esports has now penetrated female players as well. Esports ladies continue to increase over time, this is marked by the increasing number of esports ladies teams competing in prestigious tournaments.
Unfortunately, although there have been many prestigious tournaments for the Esports ladies, it has not been able to match the many tournaments for esports men in Indonesia.
But apparently, this is not an obstacle for Glance to participate as the organizer of the PUBG Mobile tournament specifically for women's professional players, Garuda Pro Series Ladies (GPSL) Season 1 with Revival TV.
Dalip Shahri, Director of Market Development Glance Indonesia admitted that Esports ladies will become something unique and has high potential, this is also the first time Glance has participated in the Esports ladies tournament as a sponsor.
"Yes, in Indonesia this is the first. Why ladies? Because it's rare. We look for unique strategies when everyone in the game industry is mostly men who play", said Dalip when conducting exclusive interviews with VOI.
Dalip also explained several important points which are another reason why he and Glance are confident to be sponsors for GPSL Season 1. He said "The first is equality, why can't women and men be the same? So we want to make this equal. And this is a serious tournament with the highest full prize."
The total prize given to the Esports ladies' team that entered the Grand Finals has a number that is not kidding, reaching IDR 100 million. Where it will be distributed to the first place winner with IDR 40 million, then IDR 15 million for the second place, IDR 13 million for the third place, and then next.
More about the reason, Dalip said that the ladies gamers are considered to have a high charm because they can be more interactive and expressive when compared to men.
"We have surveyed in India where he initially streamed only 600 - 6000 views, so when he was in the tournament, the views continued to rise. That's what makes us confident that ladies gamers have high potential", he added.
Garuda Pro Series Women (GPSL) Season 1 has ended in the race for the championship position in the Grand Final round which was held on August 26-28 yesterday.
The first winner of the GPSL Season 1 was won by Alternative Ego Dione, followed by Bigertron ACE in second place, and ONIC AX in third. Not wanting to lose, Dewa United LYNX managed to catch up in fourth place.
Seeing the success of the GPSL tournament Season 1, Dalip admitted that the results obtained from the audience's enthusiasm exceeded their expectations. The reason is, that the number of viewers reached 2.2 million views.
"It's very satisfying. Because our initial target is close to 100 thousand (the audience), it turns out that we penetrated 100 thousand per day. So we're very happy", said Dalip.
The end of the GPSL Season 1 is not the end of Glance's support for Esports ladies in Indonesia, because Glance also participated in two other Esports ladies tournaments along with Revival TV.
In the second tournament "Garuda Valorant Invital Season 3", Glance is not only a sponsor like before, Dalip admits that Glance will participate as a Co IP as well as a sponsor. Then, in the third and next tournament, Glance also has ambitions to become an IP owner.

"Yes. It has been a plan from the start to become an IP owner and a serious player in Indonesia. So Glance's own way of working is we don't want to be a guest, but we want to be the host. Because Glance Indonesia is committed to 95% local content", he said.
Garuda Valorant Invitational Season 3 has the following schedule:
- Open Qualifier: 19-21 September 2022
- Invited Qualifier: 24 & 25 September 2022
