Hunt Film Review: Squidase Actions In The Style Of Lee Jung Jae And Jung Woo Sung
JAKARTA - The year 2022 is arguably Lee Jung Jae's shining year. 20 years of career in the world of cinema, for the first time he directed a film called Hunt.
This film is his latest project after the success of the Squid Game series. Lee Jung Jae also invited his friend and agency partner, Jung Woo Sung.
Hunt is an action drama film focused on National Intelligence Service (NIS) and its two agents: Park Pyung Ho (Lee Jung Jae) and Kim Jung Do (Jung Woo Sung).
Set in 1980, NIS learned of the attempted attack on the President of South Korea, Chun Doo Hwan occurred. Park Pyung Ho and Kim Jung Do were tasked with finding out who the masterminds were.
They knew that the effort was made by a Main Korean spy known as Donglim. The two of them became suspicious because Park Pyung Ho and Kim Jung Do had ties to the military.
One time a spy leaked classified intelligence at the agency, it led the two to investigate each other. A plan to kill the South Korean president was revealed and now they have to prevent it.
Hunt's film appeared without further ado. From the start of the story minute, the shooting scene took place. This scene ensures that viewers can find out the starting point of this conflict.
After that, the conflict began to spread between Park Pyung Ho and Kim Jung Do. Park Pyung Ho, who worked as an agent for 13 years, was highly respected by his colleague.
Likewise with Kim Jung Do who is a former member of the military. The position of the two is so strong that they are suspicious of each other.
Not only debate, various scenes tend to be sadistic to be shown clearly here. This film is indeed inspired by real events in the '80s, ranging from the President's attack to Gwangju.
Tensions and adrenaline in the story began to develop but the blood pressure decreased. As a result, when the climax arrived, it felt blunt to see their multi-layered conflict.
memory after twist comes. Maybe for those of you who like surprises, Hunt is a great spectacle. But being able to be fooled by various layers of twists is quite tiring.
Apart from that, Lee Jung Jae, who also wrote the script, knows how to wrap Hunt's story. It's not about who is right or wrong, but more about the situation faced it is like that.
Regarding acting, the duet of Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung is unbeaten. Those who have been friends for a long time show promising performance.
In addition there are Jeon Hye Jin, Heo Sung Tae, and Jung Jae Sung. But on the other hand, Go Yoon Jung's acting was also amazing. Hunt made his debut in acting but he performed a cool performance.
Hunt is an action drama that makes you not turn away from the cinema screen. The film action is tense with a history that can be enjoyed starting today, Wednesday, September 14 in Indonesian cinemas.
