BMKG Expressing A Pancaroba Throughout September 2022 With Potential Features Of Puting Beliung Wind
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Bandung Geophysics Station said the transition phenomenon that occurred in September 2022 has the potential to cause a tornado.
BMKG forecaster for Bandung Geophysics Station, Muhamad Iid Mujtahiddin, said that the dry season, which is predicted to end at the end of September 2022, causes cumulonimbus clouds to form quickly and have the potential to cause tornadoes as happened a few days ago in Bandung.
"If you look visually, there is the formation of cumulonimbus clouds that are shaped like cauliflower, and there is a very fast change from white to dark black, which could be a potential tornado", said Iid in Bandung, West Java, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 6.
On Sunday, September 4, a tornado occurred in Cimenyan District, Bandung Regency, West Java. This phenomenon caused several houses to be light to moderately damaged.
Then on Monday 5 September, a tornado also occurred in the area of Jalan BKR, Bandung City, West Java. The wind caused damage to the building at the Jalan BKR gas station.

In addition to the humid weather conditions during the transition period, according to him, warm sea levels can accelerate the formation of rain clouds even though it is still the dry season.
Regarding the tornado that occurred in Bandung, according to him, it was caused by the phenomenon of changes in wind direction. In addition, according to him, the increase in temperature due to the proliferation of buildings on the hillside makes the formation of rain clouds occur quickly.
"There are certain conditions that cause wind bends, and it is related to the transition period, it also has the potential to cause extreme weather", he said.
For this reason, he also appealed to the public to be prepared for the potential impacts caused by hurricanes. If there is a rapid change in the color of the clouds, according to him, residents need to be vigilant.
"People immediately look for the most sturdy and safe place to avoid the hurricane disaster", he said.
