Dozens Of Livestock Die Suddenly In Kampar Riau, Regional Secretary Orders Veterinarians To Find The Cause

RIAU - Dozens of livestock died suddenly in XIII Koto Kampar and Koto Kampar Hulu sub-districts in Riau Province. It is suspected that death was due to verbal and nail disease or FMD.

The Regional Secretary of Kampar Regency, Yusri, asked his staff to investigate the matter. All stakeholders are asked to be involved so that they quickly find out the cause of the death of livestock.

"I ordered all veterinarians and their devices to go down to the two sub-districts to determine the cause of death of the livestock," Kampar said, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 5.

So far, 5-20 livestock have been reported to die every day, especially in Koto Kampar Hulu and XIII Koto Kampar sub-districts.

According to him, this of course makes the livestock owner anxious.

Yusri also asked all other related devices to directly check the field regarding the real cause of the problem so that it can be resolved immediately.

"Whatever the disease will be, carry out mass vaccinations. If the FMD outbreak, in this case, the government has discussed the provision of compensation money related to livestock belonging to residents who died due to the disease," he explained.

Previously, the Riau Provincial Government provided financial assistance of IDR 10 million per cow related to livestock affected by FMD.

"The assistance of IDR 10 million/tail is provided with an indicator of the post-mortem results and after the status of the outbreak of the FMD livestock," said Head of the Riau Herman Province Animal Husbandry and Health Service (PKH).

The policy was carried out based on the determination of Deputy III for Emergency Management of BNPB Major General Fajar Setyawan that the assistance of livestock that died due to FMD could be submitted for assistance.

The requirement for cattle receiving assistance must be post-mortem and assistance can be given after the determination of the area to be infected and have FMD status.
