Duel Paige VanZant Vs Charisa Sigala Is Canceled Ahead Of The D-Day The Reason Is Not Clear
JAKARTA - Former UFC star, Paige VanZant, was disappointed because his scheduled fight with fellow mixed martial arts (MMA) star Charisa Sigala was canceled at the last minute.
VanZant is actually scheduled to clash with Charisa at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) debut main event at Wembley Arena, London, on Saturday, 20 August. However, in the end it was canceled due to unclear reasons.
The 28-year-old was disappointed when she confirmed the cancellation via Instagram on Tuesday night. She said the fight was not held for reasons that could not be explained.
"My fight is off. It's not from my team or from me. I'm very ready and excited to fight. Hope to hear from you soon. Heartbroken," she wrote.
VanZant's disappointment is quite plausible as she was desperately hoping for her maiden win under the BKFC banner after making a rocky start to join that promotion.
VanZant added that this cancellation was beyond her control. She also had a hard time accepting that fact after spending a lot of time practicing, but the show was canceled ahead of the D day.
"I'm not pulling out of my fight!!!! I'm the one being pulled (out of the fight). I'm upset and heartbroken. I worked hard and was pulled [from the fight] a week before I was supposed to compete," she wrote.
According to reports, VanZant's duel with Sigala has been rescheduled for October 15. However, the promotion has not confirmed the new date.
VanZant signed a lucrative multi-fight deal with BKFC in the summer of 2020 after being released from the UFC. However, life in the ranks of BKFC did not go well for the American Top Team star.
She lost on his debut against Britain Hart in February. The same fate befell him in a rematch with fellow UFC star Rachael Ostovich in July.
