Apriyani/Siti Fadia And Leo/Daniel Withdraw From Taipei Open 2022, PBSI: We Don't Want To Take Risks

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has decided to withdraw the participation of Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin from the 2022 Taipei Open. This is the main reason for the national badminton sport.

The PBSI's Head of Development and Achievement, Riony Mainaky, confirmed the news. He said that his party had withdrawn the two doubles so that they would first focus on healing the injury.

As is known, Siti Fadia and Leo endured pain while appearing in the final of the Singapore Open 2022. Siti Fadia has been experiencing heel problems since in Malaysia, while Leo felt pain in the waist.

In addition, strict health protocols in Taiwan are also a contributing factor. The reason is, some players and coaches have fallen ill after appearing in Singapore.

"In Taiwan, health protocols are still very strict. There are isolation, bubble arrangements and daily antigen tests. If exposed, you must isolate in a hospital. We don't want to take any risks," Rionny said in his official statement, as reported by Antara.

Riony said that the team returning from Singapore would undergo a PCR test and isolation upon arrival in Indonesia. This is done to make sure everything is safe.

The PBSI itself continues to send several representatives to appear at the 2022 Taipei Open. Among them Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay, Christian Adinata and Koman Ayu Cahya Dewi.

Unfortunately, Ikhsan was eliminated in the qualifying round. He lost to the host representative, Chen Chi Ting 21-14, 17-21 and 15-21.
