Hasim Rahman Jr. Asks For Payment 3 Times Bigger, The Duel Against Jake Paul Threatened To Be Canceled

JAKARTA - Jake Paul admits pay per view on August 6, 2021 at Madison Square Garden is at risk of being canceled after rival Hasim Rahman Jr., who replaced Tommy Fury on short notice, demanded high fees to enter the ring.

Paul claims the son of former boxer Hasim Rahman was paid more than 10 times that of the previous 13 fights in his career, but still insists on getting three times that amount.

The YouTube star also explained that his opponent took this action even though they had already signed a contract from the fight.

Why was the fight cancelled?

Of course Paul doubted how it could be resolved. in an interview with The MMA Hour, he stated that if Hasim pulled out, they would not be holding the fight.

"I'm tired of changing opponents, there really is no other name. We had to rearrange and reschedule, it was too last minute to change another opponent. Tickets, it created so many complications for refunds, it was just a nightmare and pain," said Paul quoted from Marca, Wednesday.

He added the new opponent would not have enough time to train, which could lead to criticism that it was not a fair fight, as Paul expressed his desire for his rival to put up a fight, not a substitute who did not have time to prepare.

Not the first time Paul and Rahman Jr have shared the ring

Prior to Jake Paul's fight against Nate Robinson in November 2020, he shared a sparring session with Hasim Rahman Jr. On that occasion the heavyweight boxer got the best resistance from Paul.

"He was much more experienced than I was then, so if what he had was better than mine, it's fine for me to admit it because I know what I'm capable of now and I know I will fight him and beat him," he assured.
