Robb Elementary School Mass Shooting Site To Be Demolished And Rebuilt

JAKARTA - President Joe Biden told a local lawmaker during a visit to Uvalde that the federal government could provide the resources to tear down Robb Elementary School and would rebuild it.

"He said, 'I'm not leaving. I'm going to bring you the resources. We're going to tear that school down, build a new one,'" said state Senator Roland Gutierrez, who represents Uvalde.

"I can't tell you how many little kids I spoke to who wouldn't go into that building. They were just traumatized. They were crushed," Biden continued.

If this happens, it is not something new.

Sandy Hook Elementary School, where a gunman shot and killed 26 people in 2012, was demolished and replaced with a new $50 million school on the same property in Newtown, Connecticut.

School officials in Colorado are also considering tearing down Columbine High School in 2019. There, 13 people were murdered in 1999. But in the end they decided not to tear it down.

As President Biden left the church, he waved to the crowd.

"Do something!" someone in the crowd shouted.

"We'll do it," Biden replied.

The White House has acknowledged there are several options Biden could make to impose tighter gun controls, but the administration has been in touch with Democrats who are leading negotiations with Republicans in Congress.
