24 MIT Terrorist Suspects Turn ISIS Supporters
JAKARTA - The National Police said 24 suspected terrorists from the East Indonesia Mujahideen group (MIT) were supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). They have pledged allegiance to the international terrorist group.
"Against 24 suspected terrorists belonging to the Poso MIT group who are also supporters of ISIS", said The Head of Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Tuesday, April 17.
In that pledge, they vowed to support the new ISIS leader, Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi. However, it has not been clearly explained since when they became supporters of the ISIS group.
From the results of a series of examinations, said Ramadhan, it was known that dozens of terrorist suspects had participated in the ritual or training process in Tojo Una-Una Regency, Central Sulawesi.
"We have carried out allegiance activities to the Amirul Mukminin, where we know the ISIS organization already has a new leader", said Ramadhan.

Previously, the National Police Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested 24 suspected terrorists from the MIT Poso Group, Saturday, May 14, 2022.
The locations of the arrests are scattered in several places. 22 people were arrested in Central Sulawesi, 1 in Bekasi, and 1 in East Kalimantan.
