Not In A Movie, This Passenger With No Flying Experience Is Able To Do Emergency Landing Of An Airplane At The Airport

JAKARTA - A passenger with no flying experience was able to land a private plane safely at the airport last Tuesday, when the pilot was suspected of having health problems.

As the situation progresses, the passenger can be heard telling air traffic control that he doesn't know how to fly a plane, according to LiveATC.net audio obtained by CNN, as quoted on May 11.

"I have a serious situation here," the unidentified passenger said in the audio.

"My pilot became incoherent, and I didn't know how to fly a plane," he continued, telling himself he had no experience.

Then air traffic controllers (ATC) began giving instructions to the passenger about landing the plane, according to the audio, which eventually landed at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, United States.

"Try to hold the wings and see if you can start descending. Push forward on the controls and down at a very slow speed," the air traffic controller can be heard telling the man.

"Try to follow the coast to the north or south. We are trying to find you," continued the ATC again.

In additional audio captured by LiveATC.net, other air traffic controllers can be heard telling other aircraft what had happened.

"You just watched some passengers land that plane," the tower operator can be heard telling an American Airlines pilot waiting to take off for Charlotte, North Carolina.

"Did you say the passengers landed the plane?" asked the American Airlines pilot.

"Oh my God. Good job," he praised.

Two people were onboard the single-engine Cessna 208 when the pilot had a "probable medical problem," the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.

The pilot's condition was not immediately known. The FAA immediately launched an investigation into this incident.
