Becoming Host Of The G20 Summit As Well As Non-Aligned Countries, House Of Representatives Commission I: No Problem Indonesia Accepts Putin
JAKARTA - Russia plans to attend the G20 Summit which will take place in Bali at the end of 2022. Russia's presence in Indonesia has been under the spotlight in the midst of the conflict with Ukraine.
Member of Commission I DPR from the Golkar Faction Bobby Rizaldi assessed that Indonesia should have no problem accepting the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 Summit in Bali. Moreover, according to him, Indonesia is a member of a free and active non-aligned country.
"As the host of the G20 Presidency and a non-aligned country with a free and active concept, there should be no problem with accepting Putin at the event", Bobby told VOI, Wednesday, March 23.
Despite calling for Russia to stop the war, Indonesia did not involve itself directly in the conflict against Ukraine.
"By Indonesia's stance, which states for Russia to immediately stop the war, but Indonesia does not participate and involve itself in the Russia-Ukraine conflict", he said.
In fact, Bobby said, Indonesia's presidency at the G20 Summit could be a momentum to act as a mediator in responding to this cold war.
"This is a momentum because leaders from other countries such as the US and the European Union will also attend, and Indonesia can play a role as a mediator in this forum", Bobby explained.
