DPRD Strikes DKI Provincial Government, Gives Grants To A Number Of Institutions But Their Activities Do Not Provide Benefits

JAKARTA - Commission A of the DKI DPRD is questioning the DKI Provincial Government regarding the granting of grants whose funds are sourced from the APBD to a number of agencies or institutions this year.

Member of Commission A DPRD DKI Bambang Kusumanto assumes that there are a number of institutions that routinely receive grants, but the proposed activities are always the same and are considered not to provide benefits for the DKI Provincial Government.

"Don't let grants like this to agencies later become a habit and just looking for activities," said Bambang as quoted on the official website of the DKI DPRD, Tuesday, March 22.

Bambang then asked the Governance Bureau (Tapem) to be even more stringent in selecting which institutions received grants. The goal is that these funds are actually used for useful activities.

"I have experience, giving input is just that. So it should really be evaluated. Consider the benefits. If the impact is there for DKI, it's okay. But if it doesn't exist, don't get used to it, "he said.

Continuing, Deputy Chairman of Commission A DPRD DKI Inggad Joshua highlighted the distribution of grants to recipient institutions related to the government.

This year, the DKI Provincial Government has donated IDR 425 million to the All-Indonesian Provincial Government Association (APPSI) and IDR 177 million to the Regional Autonomy Institute (i-Otda). Inggad questioned the principle of the benefits of giving grants to the two valleys.

"Regarding the function and benefits of the grant, there are two agencies APPSI and i-Otda. It is necessary to ask how much the existence of these two institutions helps local government performances," said Inggad.

Responding to this, Head of the DKI Tapem Bureau, Andriyansyah explained, one of the grant recipients this year will hold a group discussion forum (FGD) related to public policy. While others asked for grants to make workshops.

"What will be produced by i-Otda is relatively able to help the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to formulate policies, while for APPSI it has never received a grant, and it was only in 2022 that it proposed grants for workshop meeting activities including infrastructure for office and administrative office activities," he said.

Furthermore, Andriansyah also stated that he would evaluate the two grant recipients this year by asking for accountability at the end of the year.
