Acting In Pachinko, Lee Min Ho Auditions Again Since 13 Years
JAKARTA - Lee Min Ho admitted that he auditioned for the first time in 13 years for a role in the Apple TV+ series, Pachinko.
This fact he revealed through his latest interview for the series. The 34-year-old actor also explained some of the difficulties he experienced while acting as Koh Hansu.
"It's been 13 years since I auditioned (first time) so I forgot how the process was," said Lee Min Ho.
"Auditing is not just a process to show acting skills but it's a process to see the ideology and characteristics match the character and how deeply you think about the character," he continued.
The 34-year-old actor said he was still enjoying the audition process. According to him, this process made him remember the early days of his career.
“I personally like this process not to match my existing image because I am a famous person. I feel satisfied because it reminds me of my old self,” said Lee Min Ho.
Apart from that, he also experienced challenges while filming Pachinko. The series uses Korean, English, and Japanese languages.
“There are some difficulties when it comes to language. I realize it's not easy to express emotions through a script written in another language. And I feel like I have to try harder,” said Lee Min Ho.
“Everyone speaks English, so it's a new experience for me to communicate with English people and those who speak Japanese,” he explained.
Pachinko is a series adapted from a novel by Min Jin Lee. The series tells the story of a Korean immigrant family in four generations. Lee Min Ho plays Koh Hansu, a rich merchant who has a forbidden love.
The Pachinko series will premiere on Apple TV+ starting March 25.
