SEMARANG - The issue of the scarcity of cooking oil in Central Java received a response from the Central Java Police. The food task force team, manned by Ditreskrimsus personnel, conducted a number of investigations and found a number of facts on the ground.

Dirreskrimsus Polda Central Java through the Head of Sub-Directorate V/Indagsi, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Rosyid Hartanto stated that his party continues to monitor and check on the market regarding the issue of scarcity of cooking oil in Central Java.

He confirmed that there were indeed a number of regions experiencing oil shortages, and stated that the exact number of data was still being updated.

"The data are dynamic and change continuously. We will continue to carry out field investigations," said Rosyid, based on information received by the editor from the Central Java Police, Tuesday, March 15, evening.

In its field investigations, continued Rosyid, the Ditreskrimsus also found a number of facts.

Some of the findings from the field include the occurrence of stock vacancies at distributors and re-packing because there has been no shipment of cooking oil from producers.

"The scarcity of cooking oil is also caused by panic buying by the public because of the issue of oil scarcity ahead of the month of Ramadan. And some modern retail stores allocate oil and sugar for holiday packages, where previously they had collaborated with holiday parcel procurement companies," said Rosyid.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations, Grand Commissioner Pol M Iqbal Alqudusy asked the public to remain calm and not be provoked into panic buying cooking oil in the field.

"The Central Java Police also asked all parties to play an active role in overcoming the scarcity of oil in the field. Stay away from hoaxes and report to officers if there are suspicious things related to hoarding cooking oil and so on," said Iqbal.
