Search and Rescue Team And Banten Police Evacuate Elderly And Children Victims Of Floods In Serang City
SERANG - Heavy rains since Monday, February 28, at night have flooded several houses and roads in the Serang City area.
The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Commissioner Shinto Silitonga, said that his party had dispatched Search and Rescue (SAR) teams at several points in the flood-affected areas.
"Banten Police personnel immediately evacuated several areas of Serang City, flooding occurred in several areas of Serang City, namely Traffic Light Drilling Well on Raya Serang Street Cilegon with a water level of 50 centimeters, Ahmad Yani Ciceri Street next to Carrefour Serang with a water level of 70 centimeters. The Padmaraya Kaujon housing estate has a water level of 80 centimeters, the Kalomati Bridge in Cilegon has a water level of 80 centimeters, Raya Cipocok Street has a water level of 50 centimeters, and Raya Serang Arimbi Bawah Street has a water level of 50 centimeters", said Shinto Silitonga, via text message, Tuesday, March 1.

Shinto also said, due to flooding and extreme weather, there were fallen trees which resulted in closed access roads for public transportation.
"As a result of this disaster, a tree fell on the Kaujon Bridge and the closed road could not be crossed by vehicles. The diversion of flow from the direction of the square to Kaujon was due to a fallen tree", said Shinto.
Furthermore, the Banten Police have deployed some personnel supported by complete SAR equipment to evacuate residents who have become flood victims, such as small children and the elderly.
"In carrying out this evacuation, we have prepared several necessities, such as buses, double cabins, ambulances, rubber boats, and the full set of SAR equipment to evacuate the community, especially children and elderly women, which we prioritize to be evacuated to safer places", explained Shinto.
