Reducing Floods, Bandarlampung City Government Budgets IDR 19 Billion To Improve Drainage

BANDARLAMPUNG - The City Government (Pemkot) of Bandarlampung has allocated a budget of IDR 19 billion to improve the drainage system in order to reduce flooding when it rains.

"The drainage repairs will begin in March in the sub-districts," said Bandarlampung Mayor Eva Dwiana in Bandarlampung, Antara, Thursday, February 24.

Eva revealed that the drainage improvement plan had also been discussed in the development planning deliberation (Musrenbang) at the sub-district level.

"The inputs from this sub-district have been completed and will be given to the respective regional apparatus organizations (OPD) for implementation," she said.

He also asked that the implementation of drainage repairs in the sub-district could be carried out professionally and not to disappoint the community.

"Please the relevant OPD pay attention to this. Soon we will have an auction, I want someone who works professionally, so that no one will disappoint the public," she said again.

Then, Eva also said, regarding the problem of flooding that often occurs when heavy rains fall in the Rajabasa area, especially around Jalan Nyunyai, the city government has made efforts to widen and dredge the river there.

"Maybe in the future, the culverts will be widened, but some of the drainages is on national and provincial roads, so we can't do anything. But later we will send a letter that these roads must be prioritized for the community," she also said.

However, he said, so far, although the water often stagnates when it rains, it never lasts long.

"Alhamdulillah, even though there is a puddle of water, it's just passing through," she said again.

She also hopes that the community will no longer throw garbage in the river when the drainage is repaired, because everything that is done will feel useless if such behavior is still applied.

"It's useless if we do river raids every Friday, improve drainage if we still litter," she also said.
