Twitter Launches Safety Mode To Block Accounts Using "Hurtful" Language

JAKARTA - Twitter Inc will roll out a security feature that will allow users to temporarily block accounts for seven days for using malicious language or sending uninvited replies, the social media platform said on Wednesday, September 1.

Once Protection Mode is enabled, Twitter's system will examine the tweet's content to assess possible negative engagement and the relationship between the author and the sender.

Accounts with which he interacts frequently will not be automatically blocked, the company said, taking into account existing relationships. However, for unrelated accounts, Twitter can block accounts that make uninvited comments.

Twitter has previously taken several steps to address harassment on its site, which often occurs in unsolicited replies targeting women and minorities.

This makes the "tweet war" in the future may not happen, if the accounts of each user are not connected. On the contrary, accounts that provide negative comments or responses to someone's posts are blocked by Twitter.

"We want people on Twitter to enjoy healthy conversations, so we limit excessive and unwanted interactions that could disrupt those conversations", the company said.

Safety Mode can be enabled under settings and will be available to small feedback groups on iOS, Android, and Twitter.com, starting with accounts that have English settings enabled, Twitter said.
