JAKARTA Meta introduced Facebook Content Protection, a new tool launched specifically to steal original content. As the name suggests, this tool will work on the Facebook platform.
Meta says that this tool will work by detecting videos uploaded by various accounts. This is done to find out if there are videos downloaded and re-uploaded without permission to get a high engagement.
If creators receive notifications about the stolen content, they have several options. Creators can choose to block the Reels visibility on Facebook and Instagram or release their claims to keep the reel visible.
In addition, creators can choose to track the stolen Reels performance. That is, they can know which traffic is higher, whether the original or stolen. They can also add the attribute link back to their original works as an option.
Facebook Content Protection utilizes the same matching technology as Meta Rights Manager for copyright holders. Therefore, this system can display the percentage of match, number of impressions, and monetization status of suspected content.

This content protection system is automatically given to Facebook creators who are already in the Content Monetization Program. Access to this tool is also rolling out in stages for creators who use the Rights Manager.
Unfortunately, there is currently no way to deal with interplatform theft even though the application under Meta looks connected. This feature can only protect the original content uploaded to Facebook, even though it is shared cross-sectionally from Instagram.
When a user's account is detected stealing original content created by one of the creators, the video will be blocked from Reels. However, the thief's account will not accept firm action such as blocking or deletion.
