JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, invites all stakeholders related to the development of artificial intelligence (AI), to collaborate in designing the right AI regulations in Indonesia.

Nezar emphasized that the government opens space for industries, academics, NGOs, and the wider community to contribute to the preparation of policies that will optimize AI benefits as well as mitigate the risk of utilizing AI technology.

As a first step, Komdigi held an AI Policy Dialogue, which will take place in seven sessions. Each session will discuss the potential and challenges of AI in various sectors, ranging from e-commerce, banking and finance, health, education, creative economy, sustainability, to cross-sectoral issues.

The first discussion began with the e-commerce sector, which has become the backbone of Indonesia's digital economy. According to Nezar, the e-commerce sector has great potential to utilize AI, especially with market projections which are estimated at 150 billion US dollars by 2030.

"With Indonesia's e-commerce projection, we must ensure that AI adoption in this sector provides maximum benefits for consumers, business actors, and the wider community," said Near, quoted on Friday, January 31.

Nezar Patria hopes that the arrangement for the use of AI technology must truly reflect reality on the ground. Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade, Nezar Patria, invited all parties to provide constructive input.

"We really hope that the input from the government, industry, academics, NGOs, and the community will really reflect the needs and challenges in the field. If you have views or recommendations, don't hesitate to convey them to us," he said.
