Many Fatality Scenes In 'Mortal Kombat' Are Censored, Netizens Attack Film Censorship Institute Account

JAKARTA - The Mortal Kombat film has officially released in Indonesian theaters on Wednesday, April 14. The film that adapted from the popular video game promises gory and extremely brutal scenes.

The number of violent scenes is certainly an attraction as well as a worry for fans. Given that Film Censorship Institute in Indonesia can be said to be quite strict on this matter.

As a result, netizens and Indonesian viewers were disappointed with the screening of Mortal Kombat in Indonesia. The reason is, many fatality scenes that characterize the Mortal Kombat game have to be censored.

On the other hand, the censorship for the Mortal Kombat film is quite natural. Moreover, this film is intended for adult audiences with an R (Restricted) rating.

Through the official Instagram account, the Indonesian Film Censorship Institute also uploaded the censorship provisions contained in Article 9 of the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No.14 of 2019. It was written that if the Mortal Kombat film is 110 minutes long, it can be watched by viewers with a minimum age of 17 years, and this film contains violence.

But unfortunately, netizens are already disappointed and vent their frustration on the official @lsf.ri account. Because various sadistic scenes that are already attached to Mortal Kombat are removed.

"Mortal Kombat without fatality is the same as buying black pepper beef, but not with beef", commented a netizen.

"Honestly, I was a little disappointed with the film censorship agency (LSF), unfortunately, the cool Mortal Kombat film became uncomfortable to watch, it didn't really affect the story, but we as viewers feel uncomfortable watching it because the fatalities were cut.
