JAKARTA - The rise of electric cars in the world triggered a number of companies to create electric charging stations in various places. Power stations will be present throughout Penang to Singapore.

As reported from Mashable, Thursday, April 8, Porsche partnered with Shell to hold high-speed electric charging for electric vehicles at six different Shell stations in Malaysia and Singapore. High-speed electric charging stations (HPC) will be present at a number of points along the North Highway to southern Malaysia.

The presence of electric charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) is claimed to provide convenience for drivers so that they do not have to worry about running out of power when traveling long distances.

The electric charging station will be equipped with a 180 kW DC charger which is a high-capacity charger. In addition, the place is already equipped with two Type 2 CCS connectors.

The construction of this charging station for EV will be done gradually. Four stations are scheduled to be ready for use by mid-2021. The last two stations will be completed in 2022.

The six new charging stations add to the list of pre-existing Shell stations and Porsche Malaysia and Singapore have built. Since partnering with Porsche, Shell also offers a number of advantages for Porsche owners.

Porsche users can book HPC points in advance through the mobile app. There are also discounts on every meal and drink purchase available at Shell Select outlets.

The addition of electric charging stations is expected to boost the electric car market in Southeast Asia, especially countries that are lagging behind in the procurement of electric vehicles and their infrastructure.

"While the issue of electric cars of the future is a global problem, Southeast Asia has a level of complexity and a variety of challenges and opportunities in the future", said Amir Adel, Senior Vice President of Mobility East Shell.

"As more and more consumers use EVs and the government strives to meet their needs, the partnership between Porsche and Shell is one of many examples of how industry players should unite in playing an important role", Amir added.

"To help reduce carbon in the transport sector and pave the way for cleaner mobility, solutions for customers", he concluded.
