JAKARTA Last August, Apple introduced a new policy requiring developers to submit their data, such as email addresses and phone numbers. Now, the rules are officially implemented.

Starting October 17, all App Store developers must provide the data to Apple to be posted on their app pages. Although this rule is quite controversial, developers must comply because this rule was not made by Apple.

These new requirements are part of the online platform rules set by the European Union through the Digital Services Act (DSA). Their company developers can list email addresses and company numbers, but not individual developers.

They must enter personal emails, or emails used specifically for their work, and their most recent phone number. If they only have one number used, then their number can be seen by anyone.

All application developers are considered traders by Apple so they are required to submit the data. Even though the apps available on the App Store do not receive direct revenue from the app store, developers still have to submit their data.

However, Apple set few restrictions for this policy. Especially for app developers who distribute their apps line up and don't include any ads in it, they don't need to submit the data the company asks for.

In accordance with Apple's terms, development that does not comply with these rules will receive consequences. If until February 17 their address and phone number have not been submitted, their app will be removed from the European Union App Store.
