JAKARTA - The latest Palo Alto Networks report found that the convergence between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) increases the risk of complex cyberattacks, especially in the manufacturing sector.

Because these attacks can cause significant financial impacts and stop the company's operations.

Therefore, the Country Manager of Indonesia at Palo Alto Networks, Adi Rusli, emphasized the importance of proactive steps in reducing risk and maintaining the resilience of the industrial system.

Despite concerns about potential AI-based attacks, many industry players see AI as the main solution in stopping threats to this vital infrastructure.

This report entitled State of OT Security: A Comprehensive Guide to Trend, Risk, and Cyber Resilience found that as many as 76.5 percent of respondents in Indonesia identified the AI attack on the OT system as the main problem.

But on the other hand, 74.5 percent of the 1,979 operational technology business (OT) and IT leaders from 23 countries around the world, including in Indonesia, believe AI will be a key tool in protecting OT from cyber attacks.

"The proximity supported by AI and the integrated security system throughout the ecosystem is at the forefront of security. This allows rapid analysis and identification of threat patterns before the attack occurs," added Rusli.

In addition to AI, this report also emphasizes that migration to cloud technology can be another alternative to improving security. The survey noted that 74.5 percent of respondents believed that cloud adoption would strengthen the resilience of the OT system.

Rusli added that the application of technology such as AI and cloud is an important step in facing increasingly complex security challenges.
