JAKARTA WhatsApp, Meta's messaging platform, introduced a new feature that supports user interaction. Starting last October 1, the company released filters and backgrounds for video calls.

With the launch of these two features, WhatsApp wants to provide the best and most enjoyable experience as long as its users make video calls. According to WhatsApp, these two features can help users become more expressive.

"Now you can change the background or add filters during video calls for a more personal touch," WhatsApp said via its official website. "We launched filters and backgrounds to make your video calls more interesting."

Like the built-in Instagram filter, filters in WhatsApp video calls can beautify the appearance, add color, or make the face look funny. This feature will be available globally to all users with ten selected filters.

Some of the filters that users can choose are Warm, Cool, Black and White, Light Leaks, Melamun, Light Prisma, Fish Eyes, Antique TV, Glass, and Nada Duo. This filter support can be combined with the background feature.

Meanwhile, the background is a feature to change the appearance on the back of the user, just like the background available on various video conferencing applications. Just like filters, WhatsApp will provide ten types of background.

"With the background, you can maintain the privacy of the surrounding environment and take yourself to a comfortable coffee shop or a comfortable living room for a cleaner and neater look," WhatsApp explained.

In addition to launching two new features, WhatsApp also adds the Final Touch and Light Redup option to make the video display better. These two capabilities can improve the brightness in the surrounding environment naturally.
