JAKARTA CRRC Corporation Limited, a train manufacturer from China, launched a hydrogen-powered intercity train called CINOVA H2. This transportation was introduced at the 2024 InnTrans event.
This train is claimed to be a smart and environmentally friendly transportation solution because it is carbon-free. Different from the previous generation, CINOVA H2 is capable of traveling at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour with a fully automated system.
According to a CRRC statement, the train launched in Berlin, Germany offers world-class technical specifications, both speed, passenger capacity, and distance. By using hydrogen, this train can generate electricity through chemical and oxygen reactions.
"The deposition emphasizes an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach," said CRRC Technical Expert Liang Caiguo. "The water emitted from hydrogen fuel cell reactions is refined and recycled to meet passenger water needs."
CRRC claims that CINOVA H2 will not produce carbon emissions during the train's operation. In fact, with annual operations as far as 300,000 kilometers, each CINOVA H2 train is capable of reducing carbon emissions by 730 tons per year.
