JAKARTA - All the iPhone 16 models launched this week, now support up to 45W fast charging via a USB-C port, based on a new certification from the China Quality Certification Center, the regulatory body in China. This information was first revealed by ShrimpApplePro on platform X.

The certification shows that the iPhone 16 is tested at a voltage of 5-15 volt and a current of 3 amperes, which is equivalent to up to 45 watts. This is more than 50% faster than the iPhone 15 which only supports fast charging between 27-29W, and doesn't even reach 30W.

Although previous rumors mentioned that the iPhone 16 model will support faster charging, Apple did not provide an official statement regarding cable charging speeds on this latest model.

Apple only mentions that MagSafe is now capable of charging up to 25W if paired with appropriate power adapters, without discussing details about charging using cables.

This is actually not too surprising because Apple has often not commented much about charging via cable. For example, the iPhone has been able to charge more than 25W over the last few years, approaching 30W, but Apple only officially states that fast charging can be done with a USB-C 20W adapter.

Apple introduced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro on Monday 9 September, with early bookings starting on Friday 13 September. Deliveries will kick off on September 20. The latest iPhone 16 feature includes a dedicated button for camera settings, a larger screen on the Pro model, and Apple calls it their first phone to build for "Apple Intelligence."
