JAKARTA - A Bitcoin wallet that has been inactive for 11 years has suddenly reactivated. This wallet stores about 185 BTC which is now worth more than IDR 160 billion (equivalent to 10.5 million US Dollars), according to a report by crypto analytic platform Whale Alert. The appearance of this wallet has attracted attention amid the turmoil of the Bitcoin market that has been struggling in recent weeks.

This wallet was first created when Bitcoin was still in its early stages of development, to be precise around 2013. At that time, the price of Bitcoin had just crossed the US$1,000 figure or around Rp. 15 million for the first time. However, at the end of 2014, the price of BTC dropped drastically to 732 US Dollars per coin, much different from the current value of Bitcoin which is in the range of 57,700 US Dollars or around Rp. 889 million per coin.

According to Teacher Watcher information, it is estimated that the wallet owner bought Bitcoin while the price was still below 100 US Dollars (approximately Rp1.5 million), so the profit they get now reaches more than 570 times. This move proves the potential big profits from long-term Bitcoin investments, although the volatility of the crypto market often makes investors cautious.

This wallet activation occurs amid Bitcoin's fluctuating performance. In 2024, despite hitting an all-time record high of 73,000 US Dollars (approximately IDR 1.1 billion), Bitcoin has not been able to return to that level. In the last 30 days, the BTC value has fallen 3%, despite a slight increase of 1% last week, according to CoinMarketCap data.

However, Bitcoin remains stronger than a decade ago, and its long-term outlook still attracts many investors. The unexpected move by the wallet owner to reactivate their Bitcoin after 11 years shows their confidence in the long-term value of this asset, although the owner's identity remains a mystery.
