JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information together with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) and Mastercard Indonesia in launching an online academy to prepare one million Indonesians in cybersecurity.

By leveraging Kominfo's Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) platform, this online academy will focus on developing basic knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity for individuals and small businesses, ensuring they are better prepared to protect themselves in an increasingly digitized world.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that Indonesia still needs many digital talents, especially in the field of cybersecurity. With the hope, this initiative can produce 1 million qualified digital talents in the next 5 years.

"The need for skilled talent in cybersecurity is getting more significant. The data shows that although cybersecurity workers grew by 12.6 percent between 2022 and 2023, there was a shortage of nearly 4 million cybersecurity professionals worldwide," Budi said in the Launch of the Cyber Security Capability Strengthening Program for One Million Digital Talents on Thursday, September 12.

Indosat and Mastercard will play an important role by combining Indosat's efforts to develop strong digital talent with Mastercard expertise in cybersecurity solutions as well as experience in organizing cybersecurity training globally.

"At Indosat, we believe that digital talent is the key to Indonesia's future. We are honored to be trusted by the Ministry of Communication and Information to support this breakthrough," said forced Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

Furthermore, the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Kominfo Hary Budiarto emphasized that there is no specific audience target in training. Which means, all groups ranging from students, beginners, experts, to the general public can take part in this training.

"Starting October 1, we will open (registration) on the DTS website. Indosat is translate (learning module) to Indonesian. Because those who access this are various segments. This is open to all of them," said Hary.

Some of these modules that will be available include, among others, How to Inventory Your Device, Apps and Accounts, Understanding Cyber Risk, and Cyber Security for Small Business, and more.
