SUKOHARJO - The success of a business often starts with the courage to see opportunities. This is what is reflected in the journey of CV Swakarya Jaya Furniture, a furniture business from Sukoharjo, Central Java, which was pioneered since 2020 until it managed to penetrate the international market through a long process full of challenges and a spirit to continue to grow.
Armed with the determination to utilize the potential of the Indonesian furniture industry, business owner Febrina Lossu started her business by studying the wood industry and the export market independently. Without large capital or adequate production facilities, she built her business gradually until she managed to reach the international market.
"Because I saw the opportunity to export wood or furniture, I dared to start finding out about the furniture industry and the export market. From there I also started looking for buyers so that this business could grow," said Febrina.
The journey is not always smooth. Capital constraints are the main challenges that must be faced from the beginning of the business. The entire process is carried out from scratch, even without having its own production site. As the business grows, the next challenge shifts to efforts to expand the network and find new buyers so that products can continue to reach the global market.
"Our main obstacle lies in the limitation of capital, because I did not start the business with capital. Without having a workplace, everything starts from scratch. For now, the main obstacle is finding buyers," he said.
In the midst of this process, Febrina continues to equip herself with various knowledge to strengthen the capacity of her business. One of them is through the Export Training organized by BRI Peduli.
This program provides training to MSMEs on the entire export process, ranging from document completeness, international payment mechanisms, to the management of goods shipments so that transactions can be carried out more safely and minimize risks.
For Febrina, the training became a learning space that opened up new perspectives on more professional export practices. The materials provided not only enriched insights, but could also be directly applied in his daily business activities.
"After attending the training, I learned some steps that I had never understood before. Now I understand more about export documents, payment systems, to transportation services. This knowledge is very helpful because it makes the export process safer and can reduce risks," he said.
The knowledge of the goods is combined with consistency in maintaining product quality and expanding the market network, slowly bearing fruit. To date, CV Swakarya Jaya Furniture has managed to export to Spain and the United States.
For Febrina, the journey of her business proves that limitations are not an obstacle to dreaming bigger. The courage to start from scratch, the willingness to continue to learn, and support through capacity development programs are valuable assets in bringing Indonesian local products to penetrate the world market.
From a business that was pioneered with all its limitations, now the work of the nation's children is able to be present in Spain and the United States, bringing the name of Indonesia to the global trading stage.
On a separate occasion, BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny said that BRI through the BRI Peduli Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program, continues to encourage Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to be able to develop and upgrade through the Export Training program.
This program aims to encourage MSMEs to understand the steps to start exporting independently and strategically, as well as increase readiness to compete in the international market.
Furthermore, this training program focuses on increasing the capacity of MSMEs to understand export strategies, international trade regulations, preparation of export documents, global market research, to packaging and branding products that meet international standards.
"The story of CV Swakarya Jaya Furniture is one example that when the spirit of MSMEs meets the right learning access, the opportunity to grow and reach the international market is increasingly open," said Dhanny.
