Kominfo Still Considers A Suitable Approach For AI Advanced Regulations

Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, said he was considering the approach to be used in drafting regulations that were more memorable about Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Nezar said that the approach option in question is a horizontal approach and a vertical approach. Where the vertical approach will later regulate the use of AI directly to certain sectors.

Nezar also said that the target for completion of the AI continued rules is expected to be completed in October.

Currently, he said, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics is still considering whether this AI follow-up regulation will be outlined in the form of a ministerial regulation (Permen) or a presidential regulation (Perpres).

"We are still considering whether he goes to the Permen, whether he goes to the Presidential Decree, this is still under consultation and we hope that Indonesia can have a law called Artificial Intelligence in front of him," he added.

Finally, Nezar also hopes that in the next government, the law for Artificial Intelligence can be realized immediately.

"Given the impact of AI, especially mitigating the risks posed by AI, this does require a combined regulatory device," said Nezar.

Previously, in December last year, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had released a Circular Letter from the Minister of Communication and Information regarding the ethics of the use and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or wise intelligence.
