Riza Patria Cancels South Tangerang City Guard, Gerindra: Focuses On Winning RK In Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani revealed the reason Ahmad Riza Patria resigned from his candidacy in the South Tangerang Pilkada. Muzani said Riza's resignation as a candidate for mayor of South Tangerang was to focus on winning Ridwan Kamil-Suswono in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Muzani explained that Riza Patria was previously assigned by the party to take part in the 2024 Pilkada. However, the DPP also appreciated Riza's decision to resign to fight in the South Tangerang Pilwakot.

"Yes, indeed, we have assigned cadres to advance in the regional elections at various levels and we ask those concerned to come forward, and that is an order from the party to every cadre wherever they are," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Thursday, August 29.

"But then when the party's orders came down, finally the person concerned was not willing and chose to step down rather than move forward, of course we from the party appreciate this view and attitude," he continued.

Muzani assessed that Riza wanted to be responsible for his duties as Chairman of the DPD Gerindra Jakarta. Especially to win the candidate pair promoted by Gerindra in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Riza is indeed needed to stay in Jakarta. Because first he is the chairman of the Gerindra Party DPD at the Jakarta level, then secondly there are several jobs that he must handle," said Muzani.

"One of the tasks is to focus on winning Ridwan Kamil as the cagub in the Jakarta gubernatorial election with Suswono as the deputy governor," he concluded.
